IEEE emeritbadges.org Program
The IEEE emeritbadges.org program has developed hands-on electricity and electronics instructional material based on the Boy Scouts' merit badge requirements. Instructional material for computer education is being developed. Any student, boy or girl can use the program to enhance technical literacy and learn more about viable engineering and other technical career options.  The IEEE emeritbadges.org program will be sponsoring the Electricity Merit Badge and the Electronics Merit Badge booth at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree.

The Electronics Merit Badge first appeared in 1963. Over 162,000 scouts earned the Electronics Merit Badge between 1963 and 2007.

Completing the requirements for the Electronics Merit Badges is a great way for boys and girls to study:

  • basics of electronics
  • safety precautions
  • engineering careers

Building a circuit to demonstrate lessons learned is one of the requirements. The IEEE emeritbadges.org team has developed instructional material to be used in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America Electronics Merit Badge pamphlet.

The Electronics Merit Badge Booth at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree will be located at the Merit Badge Midway.  The Electronics Merit Badge Booth is sponsored by the IEEE emeritbadges.org Project.  We will be providing instruction that will allow Scouts attending the 2010 National Scout Jamboree to complete the Electronics Merit Badge.  Scouts will complete a kit, while attending the classes, that can be taken home.  Details of the kit will be released prior to the 2010 National Scout Jamboree.

Scouts, Staff and visitors are invited to visit our Electronics Merit Badge Booth to:

  • Learn about technical career options
  • View demonstrations in the areas of power, communications, computers and electronics
  • Use Free WIFI

Look for the pink Flamingos surrounding our booth!
